We’ll look at the legislative, regulatory and legal challenges facing online learners and their families and discuss ways we can work together to make things better for our families.
Why is my child specifically prohibited from participating in extra curricular athletic activities sponsored by their ‘home’ districts?
Why does my online learner have to travel, sometimes great distances, to participate in the state’s Forward Exam?
Why does my child’s school receive less funding for my student than other schools receive for theirs?
How can I advocate for my child in a way that will truly make a difference?
11:20 March to Capitol, Capitol Visits with Lawmakers and Staff
12:30 Capitol Tour and/or Return Home
The first 30 families who register will receive
a $25 gas card at the event to help defray the cost of travel
Capitol Day provides Coalition members with tremendous opportunities. The day is equal parts networking, workshops and pep rally. It's not only our largest in-person show of force of the year, it's a chance for students to meet some of their classmates and their peers in other schools. Parents, teachers and students receive updates on what's happening in Madison, meet with legislators and legislative staff, and are trained in effective grassroots activism. It's a can't miss event!
